What is a short throw vs. long throw projector?

The difference between short throw and long throw projectors lies in how far they need to be from the screen to create a large image.

  • Short Throw Projectors: Can project a 100-inch screen from just 3–5 feet away. They’re perfect for small rooms, apartments, or spaces where you can’t place the projector far back. They also reduce shadows, since the projector sits closer to the screen.
  • Long Throw Projectors: Require more distance, often 8–15 feet or more, to produce the same 100-inch image. They’re ideal for large rooms, dedicated home theaters, or outdoor setups where space isn’t a concern.

There are also Ultra-Short Throw (UST) projectors, which sit almost directly against the wall and act like a “laser TV.”

Choosing between them depends on your room size—short throw for compact spaces, long throw for bigger rooms. Both deliver excellent visuals when matched to the environment
